The Mall Closed at Nine

Dyberry Capsule

Five friends, one dying photo booth, and nine minutes left on the mall clock.

The gates come down while one last plan forms under the parking-lot lights.

One Flash Left

At 9:02, the gates are dropping and the last photo booth is going dark. Five friends decide the mall owes them one final picture.

Utility Makes the Save

Blue cotton-canvas joggers hit the tile first. Reinforced knees meet the floor, a hand finds the switch beneath the bench, and the booth returns in a burst of white light.

The Closing-Time Relay

Pale high-rise denim catches the fresh strip. Tan pleated trousers hold the elevator. A brown floral column sweeps through the narrowing gap while padded shoulders signal from the exit.

After Nine, Keep Going

Under the parking-lot lights, the picture develops in one raised hand. The mall is finished; the night has simply changed locations. Five singular pieces make a wardrobe for carrying the plot forward.
